Wisconsin Outdoors
Television Outdoor journalist, Dave Carlson, called me a few years ago
and wanted to do a T.V. show featuring me singing some of my songs about
muskie fishing. I agreed and set a date to meet Dave on an area lake.
The day before we were going to tape the show, I was en route to my son's
sporting event in a nearby town when this song came into my head. I quickly
grabbed a napkin that just happened to be on the floor of my car (along
with lots of other junk!) I wrote down the lyrics and decided I'd play
it for Dave when I saw him the next day. I did and he said he'd like to
use it for his theme song of his show, "T.V. 13 Outdoors." Dave
used it for several years. It is now used by John Myrhe on radio station
WHSM in Hayward, Wisconsin (101.1 FM) every Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.
Lyrics
I'm living in the north cause that's where I want to be
The fish and wildlife they abound living in the North Country
The woods and water, lakes and streams, we've got 'em all around
And people come from far and near to share what we have found
In our Wisconsin Outdoors
Breath in that clean fresh air
Hear a partridge drummin' on a log, see a fish jump or a bear
Spot a whitetail buck or a flock of ducks as they wing across the sky
In this land that we call paradise, we'll show you the reason why
In our Wisconsin Outdoors
Living in the Badger State, way up in the northland where the recreation's great
So site back, relax, kick off your shoes, sink in your easy chair
Come on along, listen with me I'm gonna take you there
To our Wisconsin Outdoors, our Wisconsin Outdoors
