Big Jim’s Tackle Shop
This song was written about a place that really exists in my hometown. I have spent many mornings down there discussing “important” issues over a hot cup of coffee. I couldn’t really fit everyone’s name in the lyrics but you guys know who you are.
P.S. If you’re a “Harley Rider”, you will also find a home here!
Big Jim’s Tackle Shop
Let me tell you all about a place in a little two light town
It’s a sports shop on the main drag with lots of friendly folks around,
The proprietor he’s a big man, folks know him well you see
You might spend some dough for the lures and the bait but the stories they’re all free
Chorus-
So come on down in the morning on any day of the year
We’ll shoot the breeze about small town news, the fishing and the deer
Well the coffees on the counter so pour yourself a cup
And grab a chair, we’ll all be there a Big Jim’s Tackle Shop
The tourists come in and buy their bait and ask, “Where they biting Jim”?
He’ll smile and point em down the road, then we’ll all wink at him,
Well Larry talks about that big one that always gets away
And the 10 point buck “Goose” saw last fall gets bigger everyday,
Chorus-
Now the High School won the ballgame, and they sure played mighty fine
And those gun racks in our trucks out back, just our way of fighting crime,
In small town ‘cross the U.S.A. there’s no more friendly group of guys
Than the one’s hanging ‘round Jim’s minnow tanks playing cards and telling lies,
Chorus-
Yeah we’ll solve the problems of the world and the coffees always hot
So when your in our town just come on down to Big Jim’s Tackle Shop
